Kindergarten
Kindergarten is currently learning how to recognize contrasts in music such as high and low and loud and soft by singing, listening to music, and moving. They are also doing a variety of singing activities that allow them to explore sound with their voices and to learn how to match pitches accurately. |
First Grade
First grade has been learning about steady beat through movement, how to sing three-pitch patterns accurately and how to show melodic contour and dynamic changes with corresponding movements. They are currently learning new repertoire to perform at the winter concert. |
Second Grade
Second grade has been experiencing rhythms through singing and movement and learning how to read, perform, and write rhythms. The progress they have made in the first six weeks of school with singing and learning how to accurately read musical notation is exceptional! Fourth Grade Fourth grade has been learning how to read and perform rhythm patterns on classroom instruments. On a weekly basis, students are given the opportunity to work in small groups on rhythm patterns they are currently learning for the purpose of working collaboratively with others and allowing me to assist students one on one. Students have also been learning how to sing rounds in unison and two-parts. |

Students in this grade have been working really hard and have shown growth in their singing ability.
