Hi Lawrence Orr Family,
My name is Ms. Ervin and I am the new General Music Teacher at Lawrence Orr Elementary School. I am a native of Clinton, Maryland and recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to begin my first year of teaching. It is a pleasure to have been given the opportunity to teach music education to the students at LOES because I can share with them my passion for music and hopefully inspire them to one day pursue music as a lifelong career.
I attended college at Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Business with a Concentration in Classical Piano. While matriculating through college, my musical experiences included marching as a percussionist in the Red Sea of Sound Marching Band under the direction of Dr. Michael Magruder, singing in the Winston-Salem State University Choir, and participating in master classes with world-renown concert pianists Awadagin Pratt and Jade Simmons.
Shortly after college, I moved back to Baltimore, MD to study Music Education. While living in Baltimore, I worked as a private piano teacher at Lutherville Music School under the tutelage of Bruce Anderson, Lutherville Music School Director. These practical experiences helped to further my knowledge in music education and inspired me to want to teach music education at the elementary level.
